Beautiful plants

I’m in a ‘collage’ frame of mind at the moment, using Picasa which is a great little program.

Every now and then, I like to visit the Fitzroy Gardens Conservatory, located just in from the corner of Wellington Parade and Lansdowne Street, East Melbourne.  The plants display is changed every couple of months.  And it’s a great and cheap way of being able to photograph plants, just like those in this collage (except for the two yellow-heads…sorry…don’t know it’s name… seen on a neighbour’s fence recently).

Composition: Shape

Photography is not something I like to expound upon as I know that I know very little, really! And others do it much better than I ever could! However, just recently I came across a post by another WordPress photography blogger on the subject of the difference between ‘form’ and ‘shape’ within photos. He gave a link on the subject, but I found a much better link from within that link. Here it is: http://www.photographyicon.com/shape/

The article on Shape within photographs is succinct and provides photographic examples, the sign of a good school!

I personally aim for a minimalistic approach, as you will see if you visit my photoblog, jmnartsy.com. For me, less is always more, especially if the compositional aspect has been considered thoughtfully. You may search jmnartsy with the tag ‘minimalist’ to bring up some examples.

Here’s a pic for your enjoyment!
