Australia is most fortunate to have such wonderful beaches, all around the country. After all, we are one huge island that has spectacular scenery and great surfing. I’ve seen the obsessive surfers try to surf those tiny waves one couldn’t really call surf, as well as those humdingers. One of the better known surfing areas is located in the state of Victoria, on the Mornington Peninsula, and is the Portsea backbeach, which means the beach is on the oceanside, not the more protected Port Phillip Bay side. (If you look on a map you will see that Port Phillip Bay is a very wide and open bay and covers a huge distance.) The surf there can get quite rough, especially when the wind blows. A good spot. Here are just a few images taken there a few years ago. Enjoy! You may comment on each individual image, if you wish!
Lovely to see that shoreline. It’s hard to live inland for me. Just feels wrong…
