The first shot I took with my (then) new AF-S Nikkor 35mm f1.8G DX lens, in the camera store. The clear detail may not be obvious in this small pic, but having used no flash, in Auto-mode and handheld in relatively low light for a store, the result was marvellous. Since then it has proved its worth.
I like your treatment here Janina. I have a D80 as well, though I use my D7000 and Nex-5n these days. I’m seriously considering converting the D80 to an IR only camera, but seeing as how it’s a one-way trip I really need to be sure I want to shoot IR. I’d love to have the 35mm f/1.8…maybe next year!
Thanks, John, I’m glad you like it! Why don’t you visit nikonian.org, a great teaching, product reviews and tips resource for all things Nikon. You may be inspired in your decision-making.
Cool! I have a D80 too
But since I like taking landscapes, I think a FX would be better. But that’s still a long way to go! Looking forward to your close-ups.
I like wattle. Learnt something new today, Thanks!
Re the closeups, actually I’d forgotten — there is already one post on here, with a couple of more interesting variations to come later — called The bust. Have a look, see what you think.
And, yes, the wattle, or mimosa for the Europeans who visit here, is a favourite flower of mine too. Will post a pic later on. Cheers!
I am planning to get a Nikkor 35mm too (love it!), but a F2 as it will work with a FX camera (when I get one!) Btw, love the print on your satchel
I envy you the option to get a full-sensor camera, but am not complaining about my D80 as I am continually impressed with what it can do. My 35mm f1.8G lens allows me to get as close as 7.5inches — yes, that close, even ‘tho it’s not a macro lens. I have some wonderful images taken that close which will be posted at some stage. Re the print on the satchel — that is our national flower, the wattle, shown in bud.
